Playing
How do I win on the bigger boards?
Big Board is 5×5 and needs four in a row. Mega Board is 7×7 and needs five in a row. Lines can run across, down, or diagonally.
How does Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe work?
The board is nine small boards. Win a small board by getting three in a row on it; win the game by winning three small boards in a row. The cell you play in decides which small board your opponent must play on next. If that board is already won or full, they can play anywhere. Tap the ? during an Ultimate game to see the rules. On iPhone, tap a small board to zoom in.
I can't beat Hard. Is that a bug?
Not on Classic. Tic-tac-toe on a 3×3 board is always a draw with perfect play, and Hard plays perfectly there, so the best you can do is draw (there's an achievement for that). On the bigger boards Hard can be beaten.
How do hints and undo work?
When you play the computer, the lightbulb shows the move Hard would play, and Undo takes back your last move. Games where you used a hint don't count toward achievements or leaderboards.
Daily puzzle
When is there a new puzzle?
Every day at midnight, your local time. Weekday puzzles are a win in 2 moves; weekend puzzles are a win in 3. Everyone gets the same puzzle on the same date.
How do streaks work?
Solve the puzzle on consecutive days to build a streak. Missing a day starts it over.
How do I turn puzzle reminders on or off?
Tap More (•••) on the home screen and toggle Puzzle Reminders. Reminders come at 6 pm, and only on days you haven't solved the puzzle yet. You can also turn notifications off in the iOS Settings app under Notifications.
Playing in Messages
How do I start a game in Messages?
Open a conversation, tap the + next to the message field, and choose Tic-Tac-Toe GO! (you may need to tap More to find it). Pick a board, make your move, and tap Send. Your friend taps the message to play their turn.
Can I change my move before sending?
Yes. Your move is a draft until you tap Send, so you can move it to another cell first.
Why can't I move in a group chat?
In a group, the first two people to move are the players. Everyone else can watch the game but can't move.
Do my friends need the app?
Yes, each player needs Tic-Tac-Toe GO! installed to play their turn. Games sent from the original 2016 version still open.
Theme Pack
What's in the Theme Pack?
A one-time purchase that unlocks every premium theme, Chalkboard, Neon, Candy and Zen Garden, and any themes added later. Classic is always free. Your chosen theme is also used for boards you send in Messages.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, tap More (•••) on the home screen, then Restore Purchases. If Family Sharing is on, family members can use the Theme Pack too.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Game Center
Why don't I see my achievements?
Make sure you're signed in to Game Center in the iOS Settings app. The game asks you to sign in after your first finished game, and anything you earned before signing in is sent once you do. Achievements and leaderboards count games against the computer without hints.
Where are the leaderboards?
Tap More (•••), then Achievements, to open Game Center. The leaderboards count your total wins against Hard on the Big Board, the Mega Board, and Ultimate.
